Back in September I had the pleasure of meeting gorgeous Penny, her little sister, Josie and their amazing Mum, Vanessa. I met with Penny to help raise awareness for Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October. Down Syndrome affects 1 in 1100 live births in Australia.
Sometimes as a photographer I have a chance to be a part of something special. Last year myself and over 100 photographers donated our time to help T21 Mum Australia Network create a video slideshow aimed to raise awareness for Down Syndrome Awareness Month.
Down syndrome is the most common chromosomal condition which is diagnosed in 1 in every 1100 births in Australia however there are still so many misconceptions about Down syndrome. We hope that by sharing this campaign we can help educate the community and encourage diversity and acceptance in society.
If you would like to learn more please visit Down Syndrome Australia. Alternately if you are facing a pre or post natal diagnosis and would like support please go to T21 Mum Australia.
Photographing Penny, Josie & Vanessa was such an amazing experience, we sang and danced, blew bubbles, threw flower petals, laughed and to finish it all off I got a kiss and a few high fives! Penny you are one special gorgeous little lady! Thank you for allowing me this privilege to be part of this awareness campaign.
